My wiki, wiki ways
After summer doldrums, things are on the move again, Bloggy. Have you noticed? A little less heat; a lot more young people back in town. More traffic.
Likewise, the scene on Jackson St. and the Town Square continues to improve, in addition to the "Town Market" soon-to-opened in the storefront on the corner of Jackson and Washington St.
But speaking of beer, the Beer Philosopher's blog has an new logo to go along with his savvy words. Meanwhile, in his biz blog, Peter Gregory is fulminating against the District 95 School Board . I won't repeat Pete's claims and accusations here, despite the fact that he was instrumental in helping me get a wiki started at ShawneeNet. Peter is known for voicing his opinions, and he's hard to disagree with, since his logic is steeped in common sense, devoid of political bias.
Another geek (or geekette) Amy McMorrow at Innocupia has sold me on using the Addemar electronic newsletter platform for Art Lovers Trading Company. (If you'd like to receive Art Lovers' newsletter, send your email address to Sue. Issue #1 will be sent to subscribers next week.)
Looks like geek guru James Throgmorton has switched toDrupal for his content management. Now, all he needs is content! (Ha. I kid the ScientistSuperstar because I love him). The last time I spoke with him he claimed to be "anti-blog" and pro-wiki. What's a wiki? A content management system. Recently, a domain name speculator paid nearly $3 million for the domain "wiki.com" where anyone can create their own wikis. I just started another ShawneeNet wiki using the Wiki.Com platform, which makes it easy to format and upload photos.
The key to wiki's success is the content. Successful wikis require group participation. Maybe a university class could make it a class project. Or readers of this blog may give it a try.
Okay, see you next Monday. Or at the ShawneeNet wiki, or On The Square Online.

Yeah, why on earth didn't they put my new logo on their building? Underneath it they could have written, "The views expressed by the Beer Philosopher do not necessarily reflect those of ABC liquors or it's beer selection." Now that's snappy.
Good report. I didn't know about the new Town Market yet ... see, your blog provides a needed service. What's all this talk about discontinuing it?
Hi Dave -
I tried to contribute my Pizza restaurant list to kick off your wiki. Maybe my head is full of lint (like my ear), but the darn thing eats all the CR.
Oh well, I'm sure just a little reading will fix it. I'm not sure which one of us has to read, but just a little reading.
Peter,
I did a little reading, and still don't know what 'CR' is, but edited the Pizza page, removing the "I" point of view, and also added Mexican and Chinese. Maybe Shawn will contribute an entry for a "Beer" page, or some other reader will create or edit a different page -- about Sports or Art or whatever.
I don't have a clue what I'm doing, but I'm more than happy to give it a shot!
A few more things have been added or corrected. I plan to keep on expanding the wiki, and I hope others will, too.
It's not as difficult as it seems.
Just think 'outside the blogs'.
Surprise me!
