Wall to Wall

This morning a public improvement program is being reintroduced by this blog: City-sponsored murals -- like the one shown here on the wall of Don Camillo Mexican Grocery on Jackson St. There are plenty of other walls around town (like the one on the side of New Chillan's coffee house pictured on the Shawnee Network home page today, and the Animal Crackers wall, and the Bening (Newell House) Building south wall, and ABC Liquors, to name a few).

Yes, I know . . . money and effort, but it is something that the City of Carbondale can realistically accomplish -- bearing in mind that C'dale is not Paducah or Cape Girardeau. Instead of relocating artists here, we could give the artists who already live here some work. What we need are some cost estimates and designs. Probably too late for this year, but maybe it can make it into next year's City budget. Why not?

Meanwhile, over at the Robert Report (say it in French: RoBEAR RahPOOR) otherwise known as Carbondale 2 Cyberdale, Rob Lucas has an interesting take on dollar-driven news content. He's been blogging up a storm lately (one of those that occured last week was his doing), including a Weekly Google.

Regarding the links provided by the Blog Lynx in yesterday's post . . . links to some bands are way out of date -- not because the lynxster couldn't find more recent web presence, but because none existed. Keeping website's current is important. That's why Blog Lynx is helping me with mine.

Citizen Heck's Q & A with the Mayor took up about twenty minutes and 10 meg of disk space -- not worth the bandwith and time to upload to the server, but I will email it to the any Park District President watchers who ask.
