Cooker beats Hooker for Blooker

Hot off the wire: Cooker Beats Hooker for Blooker:

"The Lulu Blooker Prize, the world's first literary prize for books based on blogs, or blooks, has announced winners in fiction, nonfiction, and comics -- while Julie & Julia,' by Julie Powell, a blook about French cooking, won out over a blook on the adventures of an anonymous English call girl to take the grand prize."

Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, by Julie Powell, began life as an online diary, or blog, chronicling Powell’s bid to cook all 524 recipes in Julia Child's classic 1961 cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking.

Powell’s blog first built a cult readership, then attracted notice from publisher Little, Brown. The resulting blook, published last year, has sold almost 100,000 copies.
