Something about Kerry
In Unfit for Command, John O'Neill sheds light on John Kerry's tour in Vietnam, although some of O'Neill's "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth" cohorts go too far in the video ads against the candidate. One bushwhacker on Chris Matthews Hardball suggested JK shot himself, which everyone agrees (don't we, bloggies?) is ridiculous. It shows how desparate the bushwhackers are to defeat an opponent whose medal-winning military service so outshines his opponent's hitch in the Texas National Guard. According to O'Neill, everyone (except the guys on the boat with Kerry) think his war record is being overblown and distorted, so they're trying to blow it up -- with the (bet on it, bloggy) approval of Karl Rove, the President's machiavellian advisor.
O'Neill debated Kerry on the Dick Cavett Show in 1971, and his probity and sincerity were apparent, while Kerry appears to have strayed from the truth on occasion in an effort to score rhetorical points (Cambodia? ribbons? Genghis Khan?)
John O'Neill succeeded in command of Kerry's swift boat command, after JK got an early out, and he was highly insulted by JK's "Genghis Khan" testimony about soldiers in Vietnam -- they were fighting words to O'Neill, a Naval Academy graduate, and he's been dogging Kerry since 1971 (with the blessings of Nixon). If Kerry would (privately or publicly) apologize to O'Neill for his verbal excess, he might heal some wounds.* Blessed are the peacemakers.
Kerry should even appoint O'Neill to office if he's elected President, because John O'Neill is the real deal, even if some of the other Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are not. For his part, O'Neill must admit that -- despite occasional equivocations -- Kerry is "fit for command" -- or at least as fit as our President, the vanishing Guardsman.
*Post script: Former Sen. Bob Dole has suggested the same thing --that Kerry apologize. John should listen: How likely is it that both Bob Dole and this blog are wrong?

The Democrats have spent $70 million on "527" ads on television condemning George Bush and praising John Kerry. The Republicans have spent $3 million. That's a 23:1 ratio. Those Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ads, though, have by far been the most affective. Kerry is taking a hit from the Swiftees, so he demands that George Bush condemn the ads. What does the press do? Do they ask John Kerry if he condemns the Moveon.org and Media Fund ads funded by the mysterious Hungarian international financier George Soros? Nope .. they just run straight to Bush and ask him if he's going to condemn the Swiftee's ads.
Which brings us to this ......
BUSH STANDS UP FOR FREE SPEECH ..... NOT!
"I don't think we should have any 527s." The words of George Bush.
Wrong.
There should be absolutely no restrictions whatsoever on any group, political, religious, social .. whatever .. pooling their resources to let other people know how they feel on a political issue and encouraging others to support or join them. It's all in keeping with a pesky little thing called freedom of speech. Any government that restricts the ability of any group of people to express their political desires and concerns in whatever forum is available to them is not a government that can claim to protect free speech.
Nowhere is freedom of speech more important than in the political arena. This is where Americans left and right express their views, their concerns and their preferences on matters that will affect their lives and the lives of their children years into the future. Political ads are merely the expressions of the political thoughts and attitudes of one or a group of Americans. There should be no federal law of any nature whatsoever which prevents the American people from voicing their views on political issues, or any other issues. The McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law that Bush signed is an obscenity .. and when the Supreme Court upheld that law it was a clear signal to the American people that the cherished concept of freedom of speech was on its way out.
HEY! KERRY SUPPORTERS!
OK, hot shots. Just explain this one to me. Kerry kept a journal of his experiences in Vietnam. He made an entry into that journal nine days after the incident that led to his first Purple Heart. In that journal entry Kerry wrote that he had never come under enemy fire.
I'm waiting .....
Come on now. Surely you have an explanation for this.
Kerry gets a Purple Heart for wounds resulting from enemy fire that occurred nine days before he wrote in his journal that he had never come under enemy fire. Sorry ... since I'm not a Democrat I just can't figure this one out.
Know what? Maybe if John Kerry would just release all of his military records we could get answers to some of these questions! Are you going to hold your breath waiting for that? Kerry release his military records??? Bwahhhaahahahahaha!
That means ALL of his records as Bush did because of media pressure. He even released his dental records TO THE MEDIA.
Kerry releases SOME of his recordsk, as he deems appropriate on HIS web site.
Where are those ever vigilant media watchdogs now?
They have been neutered by their own politics, let them crawl off in a corner and lick their own...
Oh, nevermind.
Even the Kerry campaign has announced that he might have inadvertantly injured himself. That wound was his first purple heart. He is the one who brought it all up. I hope the public will bite him in the ass on election day, because those ball-less dogs of the media are still trying to figure out what they should lick now that their balls are gone.
As always,
Love from anonymous.
A self inflicted wound is the term the person used on Hardball. That doesn't mean he shot himself, it means he wasn't wounded by enemy fire. He was wounded by a grenade fragment from a grenade thrown by him. Don't they teach those Navy guys those things are dangerous. Put one in a basket of rice and turn and run. This guy wants to be our President? As previously mentioned, all Kerry has to do is release all his records, but he knows everything he has been saying about his record will backfire.
It depends what media your listening to. There are talking heads with biases on both sides. Today, a group of Senator veterans are formally asking Bush to "condemn" the ads, whatever that means . . . it's just words, right?
Bottom line: Even with the worse charges against Kerry, his service record during the Vietnam era (from volunteering to later protest) outshines Bush's. . . . . and George would show class by "condemning" the ads.
Re: Bush's records, I think the dental exam is the only thing they could find that place him in Alabama with his unit. As far as Kerry releasing his entire record . . . it would further distract from the "issues," which both candidates say they'd like to discuss.
Truth is, the war on "Terror" and the Vietnam flashbacks have distracted we Americans from focusing on the truly important issues of our time, the three E's: Environment, Economy, and Education (not to mention the H's: Health, Happiness and Hope).
That a good excuse. Kerry started with Vietnam and pushes Vietnam constantly because for twenty years in the senate he accomplished absolutely nothing. He flip-flops constantly on every issue major an minor. Is he for or against the war this week?
He is spending more time on diversions then anyone else. The fact of the matter is that he and his group are using the 527's more than anyone. Then he accusses Bush of doing the same.
Here are the facts of his connections. We won't get these from the media.

Bush has already come out saying get rid of the 527's
Kerry will not do it because he depends on them to cause distractions instead of talking about the issues.
In April of 1971 John Kerry gave the following testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee: "I called the media .... I said 'If I take some crippled veterans down to the White House and we chain ourselves to the gates, will we get coverage?' 'O, yes, we'll cover that.'"
Then, on August 25, 2004, John Kerry sends Max Cleland, a veteran who lost three limbs in Vietnam to accost George Bush at the gates of his Crawford ranch.
It was a sad and pathetic spectacle run by Kerry.
That's quite a list, Anonymous . . . undoubtedly revealing a double standard by the Dems.
