Kid entrepreneurs?
The Eurma C. Hayes Child Care Center may close if city cannot help, writes Rachel Lindsay in her update on the situtation. Here's a great idea (if I do say so myself): Why doesn't the entrepreneur group led by Kevin Clark (whose ubiquity precedes him) headquarted IN THE SAME BUILDING as the Child Care Center take on the project? I mean, if private enterprise can't make a go of it with free rent, then maybe there isn't such a great need afterall. I wonder if the committee charged with making recommendations on what to do about the ECH Child Care Center has considered surveying currently users. A market survey to determine the need and prospects. I mean it's touching to hear about people's experiences at the the child care center 20 years ago (my own kids spent time at the ECHCCC), but someone should do a current market survey. If it's already been done, terrific. If not, why not?
I just got off the phone with Assistant City Manager Don Monty who attends the ECHCCC committee meetings, and to his knowledge a survey has not been done. He said he'd pass the suggestion on to Debbie McCoy, head of Human Relations, who's overseeing the project for the City.
I think I'll get in touch with the young and ubiquitous Mr. Clark.
