A matter of dollars and desk

Someone who usually has his facts straight told me that Chancellor Walter Wendler's desk cost $9,000. But a quick search of Daily Egyptian archives reveals: the Chancellor 's handcrafted desk cost only $1,800. (Only?) It was paid for out of funds especially set aside for office refurbishing before the new Chancellor came on board.
