How much is that dog park in the window?

Spoke to Jeff Ratajczak, recreation coordinator for Carbondale Park District, at his office at the New Life Center, who has an idea for a dog park, but it depends on what the Carbondale Youth Soccer teams do....Supposedly, they were going to move their operation to the Superblock fields. When and if that happens, Jeff thinks that a portion of the property on Sunset Drive would be a good location for a dog park. I agree. However, other locations should be looked for in the meantime.

Poetry in the mix

In other news, I read excerpts from my "rap epic" poem at the Longbranch Coffee House last night to a small but appreciative audience and mixed reviews for my impromptu sit-down, rush-through performance. Alas, the lighting on stage was not bright enough for me to see the small type of my printed text, the slides in my mixed media show were mixed up, and the documentary film was cut short.

Mixing with people afterwards, the general feedback was that is was interesting. So it could have been worse, and will be better next time at Mungo Jerrys, when it's not so rushed, with musical accompaniment and Power Point graphics.

Bike 2 Work Day details

Must concentrate on having warm, sunny weather for Bike 2 Work Day next week.

Picking up the flyers and entry cards from Thomas Publishing today. Thanks to Debbie T. for getting the job done. Now they must be distributed to major employers and gift items collected from local merchants for the drawing.

The mayor made some changes in the press release that went to the local media, but the original draft of the news release is posted here.
