Carbondale "Bike-2-Work Day"
Businesses who have contributed items for the prize drawing so far:
Animal Crackers, Big Boys BBQ, Bike Surgeon, Book World, Carbondale Cycle Shop, Carbondale Trophy Co., Flower Shoppe, G&S Furniture, Carbondale Greyhound, Harbaugh's Cafe, Hundley House, Petal Patch, Phoenix Cycle, Printing Plant, Quatros, Rosetta News, Saluki Central, Salvation Army, 710 Bookstore, Shawnee Trails, Shoe Gallery, SIU Cycle club, Thomas Publishing, and special thanks to Kris Jones of the Neighborhood Coop for coming up with the "Lance Armstrong" sandwich, and Mayor Brad Cole, who is paying for 75 of them, plus drinks and chips.
Unfortunately, it looks like the City Hall Plaza is out as the main location for the B2W Day Lunch, but it should still be possible to have people gather outside on the veranda for a photograph.
The big question is
Will Wendler ride?
I approached the Chancellor of SIUC about riding his bike to work when I saw him in the Communications Building, and promised to email him more details.
Less than Minimalist
Ran into raconteur and entrepreneur Peter Gregory at his favorite lunch spot today. Peter, you may recall is the man who inspired the Southern Angels Business Plan contest, or as the man behind Boundless Gallery. He noted that this blog is lacking in its old irreverent, hard-hitting content. "Minimalist" was his term. So, in Peter's honor...
The last time Peter and I had lunch together it was at the new Mexican spot next to Tropicana. We both agreed that it was the worst lunch either of us have ever had anywhere ever. But both of us have since heard that the food is excellent, so we may give Los Gallos a second try. Maybe they have a new cook.
